Captain Battle ran for five issues from 1941 - 1943. Captain Battle first appeared in Silver Streak Comics (#10-#21). He is considered the third patriotic superhero after The Shield and Captain America. Now you can re-live (or, enjoy for the first time) these great adventures from generations past, with UP History and Hobby line of comic reprints. The comic reprints from UP History and Hobby are reproduced from actual classic comics, and sometimes reflect the imperfection of books that are decades old. Thanks to Golden Age Reprints and Amazon, this comic-book collector has been allow to purchase, own and read classic superhero publications featuring here-to-fore unknown (to me, at least) star-spangled heroes from World War II. The imaginative stories and artwork of Otto Binder and Jack Binder certainly made my 65-year-old heart beat faster. For science fiction and comic book fans, Otto Binder is a name that conjures up a sense of awe, given his important contributions to the mythologies of Captain Marvel and Superman and the touching tale of Adam Link, "I, Robot.". Bill Schelly's "Worlds of Wonder: The Life and Times of Otto Binder" is a must-read for serious comics historians, and, I would venture to say, the reissues of Captain Battle are precious gems for readers who get an extra thrill from 1940s characters who fought for freedom on the colorful comics pages. As with his work on the two somewhat similar all-powerful characters of DC and Fawcett comics (Superman and Captain Marvel, respectively), Otto Binder wrote stories for Joe Simon and Jack Kirby's Captain America as well as collaborating with older brother Jack on the equally excellent Captain Battle!Product details
